The positions of Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Irish Dairy Board (IDB) were today decided by a vote of the incoming board of directors.
Vincent Buckley was elected as Chairman, with the Vice-Chairmanship going to Jackie Cahill, current President of the Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers Association.
Mr. Buckley, currently Chairman of the Dairygold Cooperative, Co. Cork, is a highly regarded tillage and drystock farmer from Courtbrack, near Blarney. Active in his local community, he has also served on committees in Macra na Feirme and the Dairygold Cooperative over many years and brings a wealth of experience to his new position as Chair of the IDB.
Jackie Cahill is known nationally for his work on behalf of Irish dairy farmers. Re-elected as President of the ICMSA in 2009, a specialist dairy association of over 16,000 members, Jackie also milks 80 cows and rears over 200 other stock on his farm at Killinan, Thurles, Co. Tipperay.
