The Irish Dairy Board (IDB), who was responsible for €780m of Irish dairy exports last year and is the single largest exporter of Irish dairy products accounting for 60% of the total exports by the sector today, welcomed the “Exporter of the Year Award 2010”.
The IDB won the premium award together with the “Food & Drink Exporter of the Year Award” at the Annual Irish Exporters Association function held in Dublin on 25 November.
The award reflects the importance of agricultural exports to the country and to the revitalisation of the Irish’s economy.
It rewards the impressive performance not only of the iconic Kerrygold brand on export markets, but also the extensive range of cheese and milk powders exported by the group.
Last year’s €780m in dairy products were exported to 90 different countries around the globe. Chairman Vincent Buckley said, “the award is in recognition of the excellent work being carried out by all our employees around the globe and we are deeply appreciative of this honour. It acknowledges the consistently high quality of the products produced in a sustainable way by Irish dairy farmers. The IDB has provided marketing and export support to the Irish dairy industry for almost 50 years and has generated billions in export revenue for the Irish economy.”
