From a pallet of butter to a sea of gold; 2.6 million blocks of iconic gold foil arrive on US shores each week
Kerrygold, Irish farmer’s iconic dairy brand and one of Ireland’s most successful food exports globally, celebrates 20 years of success with Kerrygold Butter in the US.
Kerrygold first shipped one pallet of butter to the US in 1999 and has enjoyed phenomenal success ever since; with double-digit volume growth in market for the last nine years. Today, Kerrygold Butter is the number two butter brand nationally with US consumers purchasing 2.6 million blocks of the iconic gold foil each week.
The distinctive, rich flavour of Kerrygold is revered by butter lovers in the US and all over the world. To celebrate this milestone, Kerrygold hosted a butter lunch in New York prepared by West Cork’s Rob Krawczyk of Ballydehob’s Michelin star Restaurant Chestnut. Food editors, writers and influencers were invited to the intimate gathering which focused on the superior quality and rich taste of Irish grass-fed dairy.
Commenting on the success of Kerrygold in the US, Róisín Hennerty, Managing Director of Ornua Foods said,
“Kerrygold’s success in the US market is a result of decades of investment by Irish dairy farmers coupled with their commitment to producing high quality grass-fed dairy that is loved all over the world. Kerrygold is largely the story of Irish family farming which is rooted in honest, transparent origins and traditions. It’s our job to share this compelling story to protect and maintain our premium position in market; a premium which adds value to Irish milk, helping secure strong returns for Irish dairy farmers.”
Kerrygold is available nationwide and, over the last two decades, has secured a committed following in the US with fans including actress Sarah Jessica Parker, model Chrissy Tiegan and actress Kate Beckinsale.
