Róisín Hennerty has won the 2020 Irish Times Business Person of the Year Award announce at a virtual ceremony in Dublin on Thursday 3 September. The awards, run in association with KPMG, acknowledges excellence and outstanding achievement among Irish business leaders.
On accepting the award, Róisín Hennerty commented “I’m really honoured to receive this award on behalf of Ornua and to have been nominated with such esteemed colleagues in the Irish business industry. This is a very historic moment for Ornua and for the Kerrygold brand. It’s all the more poignant because last year we celebrated a huge achievement for our business and this award is linked to that. After 60 years of dedicated focus and investment, Kerrygold became Ireland’s first €1 billion food brand and we’re hugely proud of that milestone and we’re proud of the collaboration that it’s taken between our people, our member co-ops and indeed the Irish farming families we represent.
While we have seen and overcome many challenges in my years with the business, I have never seen anything quite as challenging as this global pandemic. I am in awe of our people, farmers and member co-ops and the huge resilience they have shown to ensure Kerrygold remains on supermarket shelves all over the world. With that in mind, I would like to dedicate this award to the team in Ornua. I am both proud, and grateful, to call them my colleagues.”
